Total Power

With this post I just want to raise the "hand" with humility and ask you if really this universalism and individualism favored by the fall of every identity is not instead a chasm that is leading us towards an absolute and dystopian power.

If until a century ago there were boundaries to power beyond which it lost legitimacy, today these boundaries no longer exist. I appreciate that concepts such as God, Homeland and Family are concepts that mark boundaries that you do not like but until a century ago they were, even for an absolute and tyrannical monarch, untrespassed boundaries beyond which people would have rebelled.

This is no longer the case today. We live in a globalized and enlightened universalism free from certain vintage nonsense. But allow me two or three possible events from science fiction horror

Those who hold power today, democratically conferred by intelligent and evolved people like ours, can wake up in the morning and confine the entire population to house arrest in the name of the "scinzah". I'm not joking it seems incredible but it could happen.

It could even happen that one Christmas families break up and some will leave family members at the door in the name of different health choices. I know you're right, maybe I'm going a little further, I believe and hope such a thing will never happen.

But it could happen that those in power can one day discriminate against children and make only those who are not dangerous for the psychophysical integrity of others go to school and then incredibly, with an unparalleled tough face, recycle themselves for the following elections and sell themselves with the slogan "Children are all equals".

I know it's incredible, maybe I'm exaggerating. You will think that such things can never happen to us. We hope so.

m.m.
