The sublime sense of tragic

The dying society in which we are called to live has lost the sense of the tragic. Embracing and understanding the tragic means enjoying the intimate beauty of what inevitably fades.

Living in the realm of quantity, the modern human being perceives death as one of the many material obstacles that can happen and that must be avoided. So he tries to overcome it through the psychosis of risk and hyper-hygienism.

The result is that today "normal" man is devoid of courage, spineless, constantly seeking comfort and non-effort in continuous flight from what one cannot escape from and spare oneself for a life that will never begin.

What remains is a handful of rebels/heroes who do not accept all this. They are my people.

They are the ones who see sublime beauty in loss and tragedy. Those who understand that death is not an obstacle to be avoided but part of the existence with which we have the honour and privilege of confronting ourselves. They are those who love wrinkles, hair that turns white, the marks left by an old scar and the twisted shapes of a withering flower.
