Meditation is Revolution

In some parts of the world currently and everywhere else until relatively few years ago (roughly a couple of centuries), free thinking and dissent was not allowed and would be repressed by force. It was not possible to challenge social and religious dogmas. In other words, you could not disagree without risking your life. Nowadays, disagreeing and doubting is kind of allowed but it seems that a very low percentage of people have the real ability / desire to use this right. Most people like to stay within a group, protected by the "flock". What I witness on a daily basis are people who believe they are freely thinking about what others want them to think. Free thinking is not repressed by force but it gets smothered by continuous buzzing, by delegitimization through categorizations, by shouting in chorus the television/news mantras that are mistaken for free thoughts of their own. We are the jailers of our free thinking.

Yoga and especially meditation have a fundamental role in re-acquiring the ability to be free. In today's world, freedom is mostly not physically repressed, as it once was, but is stifled by propaganda that produces "vritti" thoughts that are then mistaken as an autonomous product. You end up hearing people repeat, like robots, things that are fed to them as if they were great creative axioms. In essence, the human being unconsciously represses him/herself.

Meditation is about creating space, it is letting the weeds to be found by the eye of consciousness so that the flowers of free thinking sprouts spontaneously. Meditation is the ability to listen without categorizing and delegitimizing regardless. Meditation is the ability to listen to someone who thinks differently without attacking him after two seconds on something that has nothing to do with what he is saying. Meditation is developing the ability to observe, listen and discern.

If you believe you are able to do it regardless, because this ability is "normal" I am sorry but I disagre. If you are not aware of the constant pressure of propaganda pushing towards a single indistinct thought, regardless of the topic, you are likely to be a "recluse".

If once it was necessary to obtain freedom through external revolutions, today this freedom must be conquered first of all within ouselves through meditative practice (training) combined with training the mind to see everything with many different nuances.
