"Kali Yuga." - Marco M.

Authentic Human Freedom.

I'm reading several things by René Guénon, an author of the early twentieth century. After an initial period in which he was infatuated with occultism, he became one of the leading European philosophers to integrate and understand Indian thought, thus having a decisive influence on all those who have studied and tried to integrate Eastern studies with Western mentality, including Evola.

Apart from that, Guénon was a harsh critic of modernity denouncing how information and technology were killing the spirit. In practice, he described with prophetic clairvoyance the present period dominated by Nothingness. I understand that for some, it is an abstruse speech, but until recently, not everyone measured the goodness of a civilization in terms of quantity, comfort and money.

Guénon recognized that the traits of the historical period towards which the West was going, also prophesied by Spengler, coincides with the Kali Yuga, the Dark Age, described by the Indian scriptures (or the Ragnarock of the Norse ones).

It seems to me that Guénon hoped that an Eastern influence on the West could awaken the spirit, but, if so, Guénon himself considered the Eastern cyclical vision to be true, where the alternation of cycles is inescapable.

What to do then? Complaining is simply pointless. The living love their time and leave the complaint to the "undead." Being conservative and trying to go back to the past? It could be a solution, and perhaps it was Guénon's wish. But I believe in the inevitability of cosmic cycles where one is pregnant with the next. Let us therefore embrace the crisis with enthusiasm, let us become satisfied bearers of the seeds of the near future.

Let's enjoy the darkness and the storm, and we may be kissed by a ray of light.

In the meantime, we can enjoy the merry-go-round.
